Jessica Rowe has returned as Meat & Livestock Australia’s ambassador for a third consecutive year and with a brand new campaign celebrating independent Australian butchers and tips on how to properly cook with red meat.

Joined by Adelaide butcher Trevor Hills and Meat & Livestock Australia’s Senior Nutrition Manager Veronique Droulez, The Greatest Butcher On Your Block campaign showcases easy and tasty beef meals in a content series highlighting the nutritional benefits of cooking with red meat.

Jessica said: “By now most people know that I’m a proud Crap Housewife, and that I’ve always struggled with cooking. However, since I’ve been working with the Greatest Butchers on Your Block, I’ve come a long way with whipping up family meals that everyone will eat! Veronique has been sharing some great nutritional tips that make up these winter warmer recipes. Now I’m more confident in the kitchen since the family will eat these new tasty & easy to make meals!”

Veronique said: “For most Australians, health is a very personal choice, so we tend to look for nutrition messages that fit easily into our eating habits and mindsets, and need cost-effective options that won’t stretch our budgets. Red meat is the best way to get enough iron and zinc recommended for good health. Red meat is also packed with 12 essential nutrients such as omega 3, B vitamins (B12, B5, B6, riboflavin, niacin), magnesium, selenium and phosphorous. We need these essential nutrients for energy, healthy muscles, and for our brain and immunity to function. All lean cuts, including lean mince, are nutritious choices when trimmed. The levels of fat and saturated fat are also relatively low compared to other popular protein foods such as chicken and fish.”

The recommended adult consumption of beef is 455g of cooked red meat per week, which averages approximately 3 - 4 meals consisting of 100g - 200g of red meat.

Jessica will promote the series via a public relations and marketing campaign by the Mix Agency and The Connect Agency.
